Dear Prospective Students,
Like so many people, there came a time in my life when I longed for more: more stability, more meaning, and greater control over my future. When I enrolled in massage school and was introduced to manual therapy, something profound shifted within me. I had found work that not only supported my life, but deeply fulfilled it.
As my private practice turned into a full-time career, my love for this work just kept growing. Before I knew it, I had a clinic that supported not only my family, but the families of the therapists I worked alongside. We built a space that feels easy and welcoming, with plants, sunshine, and lots of laughter from clients who feel comfortable enough to be themselves. At some point, I had one of those “wow” moments—becoming aware that I’d created the kind of life I used to wish for. That’s what led me to start RISMM.
I started the Rhode Island School of Medical Massage because I believe in a world where people can earn a living doing work that actually means something to them. I wanted to create a path that gives families more time together—helping parents build skills that allow them to earn more, without sacrificing all of their time to do it.
At the heart of it, we’re here to help you build something meaningful for yourself. Our goal is to give you the skills, confidence, and support you need to create a career that feeds your soul. Massage therapy changed my life in ways I never imagined—and I wholeheartedly believe it can open doors for you as well. If you choose to join us, please know that you won’t be walking this path alone. We will be here to guide and support you every step of the way.
With warmth and encouragement,
Courtney McDonald, LMT
President, Rhode Island School of Medical Massage
